"An Inconvenient Truth", is a docu-movie, main lead/presenter is Al Gore (once compete with Bush for Presidency). He shows a very detail and very scarry presentation about Global Warming. It happened long time back, and is getting worse... and it WILL get worst if we don't do anything about it. Just in case you don't know wat is Global Warming, here's some info from http://www.stopglobalwarming.org "
More carbon dioxide is now in the atmosphere than has been in the past 650,000 years. This carbon stays in the atmosphere, acts like a warm blanket, and holds in the heat — hence the name ‘global warming.’ "
Don't worry, it doesn't tell us to stop breathing out.... these carbon dioxide is cause maining by burning, burning of coal to get electricity, forest fires, car exhaust etc etc.
Lets state some things tt Global Warming has done to us, done to the world:
- First, as the world is getting warmer, ice in Antartica starts to melt,as well as Greenland. someone ever told u tt even if all the ice in the world melts, the water level will not rise? It's half true, those ice tt's already floating on the sea melts, wun affect the water level, but thats sea-based ice, there's land based ice, those 700 feet high, acts like a land. Try putting, an ice floating on ur cup fill with water and try putting another cup fill the ice down to the bottom and fill the water, then let it melt, see the difference. Conclusion is, ice will melt when the world is getting warmer, and tt will increase water level and slowly 'eats' up the land we live in.
- Another interesting fact is tt mosquito and rodents are spreading higher, cause they can get to higher ground as temp rises.
- SARS, bird flu and many other outbreaks, is due to climate change, eco-system change, due to Global Warming.
- Polar bears are dying, as they can't find an ice thick enough for them to rest on as they travel/hunt for food..
Not much actually... what we can do it drive lesser, on lesser electric appliances, burn less stuff... What we really can do is urge the govenment to promote Global Warming awareness, nation wide. Bring in or research on using other energy like sun or wind to replace fuel/coal. Watched Discovery Channel "Addicted to Oil", some countries are deeply into Solar energy vehicles and homes and wind energy, to generate electricity~
